Myofascial Release
Gentle, sustained pressure applied to your connective tissue to eliminate pain, restore motion, and address the structural causes of chronic discomfort.

Release the Web
What is Myofascial Release?
Fascia is a tough, continuous web of connective tissue that surrounds and supports every muscle, bone, and organ in your body. When physical trauma, poor posture, or inflammation occurs, this fascia can lose its pliability. It becomes tight, restricted, and acts like a straitjacket, producing crushing pressure on pain-sensitive structures that do not show up on standard imaging tests.
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a highly effective, specialized technique that involves applying gentle, sustained pressure directly into these fascial restrictions. Unlike traditional massage that glides over muscles, MFR engages the fascial barrier and holds the stretch, allowing the connective tissue to soften, elongate, and permanently release its grip on your body.
The Benefits
How Myofascial Release Helps
This specialized therapy is ideal for those dealing with unexplained chronic pain, fibromyalgia, traumatic injuries, or lingering tightness from surgical scarring.
Eliminates Unexplained Pain
Because fascial restrictions do not show up on x-rays or MRIs, they are often the hidden culprit behind chronic pain. MFR directly targets this hidden web to provide relief where other therapies fail.
Restores Structural Balance
By releasing the tight “straitjacket” of restricted fascia, this therapy removes asymmetrical tension and allows your skeleton and muscles to return to their natural alignment.
Enhances Flexibility
Elongating the connective tissue physically removes the barriers preventing smooth movement, dramatically improving your flexibility, posture, and overall joint mobility.
Your Session
What to Expect During Treatment
Gentle, Sustained Pressure
Unlike traditional massage, MFR generally does not use lotion or oil. The therapist needs a firm, dry grip to properly engage the skin and fascia, waiting patiently for the tissue to yield and stretch.
A “Melting” Sensation
As the therapist holds the pressure—sometimes for up to five minutes in a single spot—you may feel a gradual softening, warming, or melting sensation as the restricted fascia begins to finally elongate.
Whole-Body Impact
Because the fascial web is entirely continuous, a restriction in one area can pull on distant structures. Do not be surprised if your therapist treats your hips or lower back to resolve a pain presenting in your neck.
Active Communication
Fascial restrictions often refer pain to other parts of the body. Your therapist will rely heavily on your feedback to map these connections and trace the web of tension throughout your session.
